UTAH FOOTBALL: NEED TO KNOWS
• Quarterback Devon Dampier has been efficient and effective through three games, throwing for seven scores on 74 combined attempts in Utah’s nonconference games. He is second in the Big 12 in passing efficiency (178.5) and ranks in the top half of the conference in passing touchdowns (7, 3rd) and passing yards (690, 7th).
• Wide receiver Braden Pegan has added a consistent element to the offense in 2026. Pegan tied career highs with eight catches and two touchdowns, while setting a season-high of 122 receiving yards against his former team last week. He was the first Utah wide receiver since 2019 to have multiple touchdown receptions and 100-plus receiving yards in a game.
• After scoring 66, 43 and 33 points in the first three games of the season, Utah has now scored 30 or more points in nine straight games dating back to the 2025 season, the longest active streak in the FBS of games scoring 30-plus points.
• Utah swept its nonconference slate for the fourth straight season after defeating Utah State. The last regular season nonconference loss was Sept. 3, 2022, at Florida (29-26).
• Utah’s margin of victory was among the best in the FBS last season and that has continued in 2026. The Utes had six wins by 30+ points, tying for second-most in the country (Indiana led with eight wins by 30+ points). Utah has a +33 average margin of victory through three games so far this season, seventh best in the FBS.
• Utah’s defense has been stout through the first three games of the season, allowing just 24 total points (8.0 ppg, 6th FBS). The red zone defense ranks 8th in the FBS and 4th in the Big 12 at 0.600. The Utes’ rushing defense is giving up just 75.0 ypg (15th FBS, 2nd Big 12) after allowing 181.2 ypg in 2025 (108th FBS).
• The Utes’ offense has been equally as impressive early in the season, ranking 11th in the FBS and third in the conference in total offense at 518.0 ypg. Utah is currently 9th in the FBS in scoring offense and leads the conference with 47.3 ppg.
