The Runnin’ Utes entered Wednesday night with a 2-1 record and set to play 3 games in 4 nights in the Utah Holiday Tournament with the first game against a team from Edinburg, Texas. The Broncs came in with a 3-0 record with wins over Wayland Baptist University, UT San Antonio and Texas A&M K’Ville. The Utes were able to pick up the win 85-48. Utah shot 59% from the field, 61% from downtown and 73% from the Free Throw line. This game was in the bag from the jump and that isn’t to say anything against UT-Pan American, the Utes just came right out of the gates firing on all cylinders. The Utes were led by Kyle Kuzma with 14 points on 6 of 8 shooting. Delon Wright had a perfect night shooting the ball, going 4 of 4 from the field, 1 of 1 from 3 point land and 3 of 3 from the Free Throw line for 12 points in 22 minutes. Jordan Loveridge scored 11 points in the win for Utah. Tonight gave the Utes a chance to rest the starters and get the young players/freshmen some experience.
The Utes will have Thanksgiving off and will be back in action in the Holiday Tournament against North Dakota on Friday at 8 pm and Alabama State at 7 pm, both games at the Huntsman Center. Catch both games on ESPN 700.
