Sideline Observations: Davir Hamilton Takes a Closer Look at Utah Football

The Utes held their second spring football scrimmage at the Rice-Eccles Stadium. This was an important scrimmage, as the team continued to practice situations, 2 minute drills and work on individual progression. This time to practice is an essential element to spring ball, helping the coaching staff to evaluate the team’s progress, and look closely at players in certain positions.

On the other side making observations, Utah had three high school recruits that attended the scrimmage today- 2 who are offered, and 1 still under evaluation. Davir Hamilton, a junior from Verbum Dei High School in Los Angeles California was among the three that shared his experience and evaluation of his visit to Utah.

Currently living in California, Hamilton will enter his senior year this fall. Later, if he chooses to accept an offer, he would be among the 2016 Utah Football recruiting class.

Hamilton said that he paid attention to the details and inner workings of the team, competition, and coaching – in which he interpreted a positive notion on the program.

“They are building something new, or something already great, and they just want to keep the process going and getting better,” said Hamilton.

After the scrimmage, Utah Football wide receiver Kenneth Scott said that he had a chance to chat with Hamilton.

“[Hamilton] has great size – so coming in, he looks the part. He’s a really cool guy, who has confidence and a little swag he carries around- which is good,” said Scott.

Hamilton began young as an athlete. He was a basketball player, and at the age of 8, transitioned to football.  His technique is still continuing to evolve. He is passionate about the sport, a diverse player who is able to contribute different dynamics on the field.

While evaluating other football programs, Hamilton said he has been seeking after schools with tradition, and he would like to have an opportunity to live in another state to learn new things and step outside his comfort zone.

Hamilton didn’t mention anything about specific plans, but is looking forward to his future.  “Everything is so exciting right now.”
