October 30, 2o21: It was a somber moment for the families of Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe when the University of Utah honored their memory by doing something it had never done before in it’s 129 year history, retire a number. After which the players gathered on the field for a video tribute and a rousing yell by all 51,922 attendees!

After Ty Jordan Died from a gunshot wound in December 2020, his friend Aaron Lowe decided to switch numbers to 22 to wear in honor of Ty. They were friends who played football together growing up in Mesquite, TX.

Coach Kyle Whittingham said to reporters on September 26th, he wanted a lasting tribute, “No. 22, you won’t see anyone wearing no. 22 in this program again; as long as I’m the Head Coach.”

The Utes Defeated the Bruins after dominating the run. They were led behind 4 rushing TD’s from Tavion Thomas.
