Breaking Benjamin is an American rock band formed in 1999, originally from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The band is known for its heavy, melodic sound, blending elements of hard rock, alternative rock, and post-grunge. Breaking Benjamin was founded by lead vocalist and guitarist Benjamin Burnley, who is the band’s primary songwriter and the only constant member throughout its various lineups.
Their breakthrough came with the release of their second album, We Are Not Alone (2004), which featured the hit singles “So Cold” and “The Diary of Jane.” These tracks propelled the band into mainstream success. Their following albums, including Phobia (2006), Dear Agony (2009), and Dark Before Dawn (2015), continued to build their reputation, with several singles topping the rock charts.
The band’s music is known for its introspective lyrics, powerful guitar riffs, and Burnley’s distinctive voice. Over the years, Breaking Benjamin has built a dedicated fanbase, particularly in the rock and metal communities. Despite lineup changes, the band remains a prominent figure in the rock scene. Their sound has evolved but retains a focus on emotional depth and heavy instrumentation.
