RSL vs. LA Galaxy Preview

The obvious statement that almost every RSL fan is saying is “3 points is a must every game.”  I would agree with that.  The Claret and Cobalt currently sit in the 9th spot in the Western Conference with 35 points through 28 games with a 9-11-8 record.  They are 6 points out of the final playoff spot as Sporting KC and Portland are tied with 41 points.  Kansas City does have one game in hand.  The team should have a lot of confidence as they knocked off the Houston Dynamo in Texas on September 12th with a 3-1 victory.  The team then traveled to El Salvador to face Santa Tecla and came away with one point on a 0-0 draw on Tuesday night.  They should be motivated to take on the star studded LA Galaxy team.  The last time these two teams squared off at Rio Tinto Stadium July 14th as RSL beat LA 1-0 to eliminate the Galaxy from the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Tournament.  Saturday will be the fourth and final meeting of the regular season between these two clubs (3 MLS games and 1 Open Cup).  The first meeting was a 0-0 draw on May 6th in Sandy.  The Galaxy knocked off RSL in Carson City 1-0 on May 27th as Juninho converted a PK in the 7th minute.

FW Sebastian Jaime will return to the club after missing the two games in Houston and El Salvador due to the birth of a son last Thursday.  MF Luis Silva is questionable after leaving the Houston game in the 27th minute with a left calf strain.  DF Chris Schuler is out for the season after undergoing foot/ankle surgery last week.

After the LA game on Saturday, RSL will have 5 games remaining in MLS play (3 road, 2 home).

Pregame coverage will begin at 6:30 with kickoff at 7:30 on our sister station Rewind 100.7 FM.
