The Utah Jazz are in Portland tonight as they take on the Portland Trail Blazers in their 2nd preseason game of the season at 8:00 PM. The Jazz picked up the win in their first preseason game on Tuesday at EnergySolutions Arena 92-73. The Jazz were led in scoring by 5 players scoring in double figures. Alec Burks finished the night with 12 points. It will be interesting to see if the Jazz can perform the same way defensively tonight as they did on Tuesday against Portland. It is still a work in progress. They offense looked good at moments, but looked like a preseason game on Tuesday. What I want to see is more of Trey Burke and Dante Exum playing at the same time. they played for a few minutes last game, but not enough to see how well they can actually play together. I’m sure we will see some different lineups as Head Coach Quin Snyder is still trying to determine a starting rotation as well as a rotation off the bench. This is a great time for players to define their roles and to work on playing well together.
The BYU Cougars are on the road tonight at 5:30 PM as they take on Central Florida. The Cougars are without QB Taysom Hill as he broke his leg last Friday in the Utah State game. Christian Stewart will get the start tonight at QB against the Knights. The game will be televised on ESPN. BYU’s defense will need to step up their play tonight to not turn this game into a shootout. RB Jamaal Williams will need to have a big game tonight as well. BYU should win this game, but it won’t be as easy as if they had Taysom Hill in at QB. It is also a road game. This will be an opportunity for Christian Stewart to show what he can do and how well he can lead the Cougar offense.
