Utah Jazz defeat the Portland Trail Blazers 92-73 in Preseason Game #1

The Utah Jazz began their preseason schedule on Tuesday with a win as they get by the Portland Trail Blazers 92-73.  The Jazz were led in scoring by Alec Burks who finishes the night with 12 points.  Trey Burke, Gordon Hayward, and Enes Kanter each score 11 points in the win.  The final player in double figures for the Jazz was Derrick Favors who finishes with a double-double, 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The talk all training camp has been defense and the Jazz held the Trail Blazers to 34.6% shooting from the field.  The Jazz shot 44.2% in the win.  The Jazz did commit 21 turnovers in the game and only handed out 15 assists.  They still have a lot to do offensively and when the regular season roles around their defense will be tested more.  Portland’s starters only played 20 minutes each tonight as the bench played the majority of the minutes.

Dante Exum scores 4 points on 1 of 5 shooting in his preseason debut who admitted after the game that there were some nerves.  He was, however glad to be out on the floor in NBA action.

The Utah Jazz and the Portland Trail Blazers will play each other again on Thursday in Portland at 8:00 PM.
