Utah Cruises Past No. 25 USC, 86-64

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – The University of Utah was coming off of a gutsy win over Arizona State on Saturday.  Larry Krystkowiak’s team was going to be test, facing two top-25 teams beginning with the 25th ranked USC Trojans.  Utah came out of the gates ice cold, going 0-for-5 and found themselves down 10 points early, but the Utes bounced back with an 11-0 run and it went downhill from there for USC as the Utes took a double digit lead to the locker room, 44-31 as they held USC to 37% shooting from the field while the Utes shot 64%.

Second half was much of the same with Utah scoring and defending.  Utah would finish off the Trojans with a 86-64 win.  Utah had five players in double figures led by Devon Daniels (17), the other four players that we in double figures were David Collette and Lorenzo Bonam with 15 apiece, Sedrick Barefield with 14, and Kyle Kuzma with a double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds).  USC was led by Chimezie Metu with 17 points and was the only Trojan in double figures.  Jordan McLaughlin scored nine points on 3-of-9 shooting and Elijah Stewart went scoreless on six attempts.

Utah shot 55% (32-58) from the field, 53% (9-17) from downtown and 76% (13-17) from the free throw line. USC shot 36% (22-60) from the field, 37% (6-16) from the three-point-line and 53% (14-26) from the foul line.

Utah outrebounded USC, 37-34.  USC had one more assist than Utah with 11 and had one more turnover with 11.
