
RSL head coach Jeff Cassar said on Wednesday’s Bill Riley Show on ESPN 700 that he is “optimistic” about the club’s chances of landing Donovan on the roster.
Landon Donovan and Real Salt Lake have been in talks for several weeks about the American soccer legend continuing his playing career with the club. It has been reported that Donovan was offered a contract by RSL.
General manager Craig Waibel, while speaking with media about the signing of Albert Rusnak, commented that RSL would love to welcome Donovan’s services, but so would many other teams.

In addition to playing for the LA Galaxy between 2005-2014 and 2016, Donovan appeared with the United States Men’s National Team 157 times, scoring 57 international goals.
