Believe it or not, the Grateful Dead once played a direct role in winning an Olympic medal.
It was 1992, and the Dead helped raise money to sponsor the Lithuanian men’s basketball team so they could play in the Olympics.
And play they did – winning that year’s Bronze medal while wearing tie-dyed uniforms with a slam-dunking skeleton logo.

Should the 1992 Lithuanian basketball team get their own movie like the famous Jamaican bobsled team did?
