An alternate on the U.S. women’s gymnastics team has tested positive for COVID-19 in Japan officials confirmed Monday, just days before the Opening Ceremonies.
The unnamed gymnast has been moved to a hotel to quarantine.
USA Gymnastics added that one other gymnast, who is also an alternate, is now subject to “additional quarantine restrictions”, which suggests she might have been a close contact.
There are four alternates total on the U.S. women’s gymnastics team.
