Alternate On U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team Tests Positive For COVID-19

An alternate on the U.S. women’s gymnastics team has tested positive for COVID-19 in Japan officials confirmed Monday, just days before the Opening Ceremonies.

The unnamed gymnast has been moved to a hotel to quarantine.

USA Gymnastics added that one other gymnast, who is also an alternate, is now subject to “additional quarantine restrictions”, which suggests she might have been a close contact.
There are four alternates total on the U.S. women’s gymnastics team.

U.S. tennis player Coco Gauff announced Sunday she tested positive before traveling to Tokyo and will miss the Games.
