In addition to the schedule announcement, RSL announced the signing of Brazilian defensive midfielder Everton Luiz on loan for 2019 season from Seria A’s Società Polisportiva Ars et Labor. Everton Luiz Guimarães Bilher, 30, began his career with Brazilian club Ponte Preta in 2009 but didn’t make his first professional appearance until 2010 when he was on loan to Marilia, where he had 7 appearances and 1 goal. Luiz bounced around Brazil and Mexico until 2013 when he joined Swiss club Lugano, where he made 28 appearances and scored 3 goals in his one year with the club. After Lugano, Luiz spent 2014-2016 with Swiss club St. Gallen where he made 39 appearances. Following Lugano he spent 2016-2018 in Serbia with Partizan, making 52 appearances, scoring 3 goals, earning Serbian SuperLiga Team of the Season honors, and helping his team win two Serbian Cups before joining SPAL in January 2018. Luiz made 13 appearances for SPAL.
Real Salt Lake will open the 2019 season at Houston Dynamo on Saturday, March 2 at 4 P.M. and their home opener will be the following week Saturday, March 9 at 4 PM against Vancouver Whitecaps. For a breakdown of the 2019 schedule click here.
