Real Salt Lake wrapped up their third day of their 2018 training camp today. Justen Glad, Danny Acosta, and Brooks Lennon are still on national team duty but recent signing Alfredo Ortuño has arrived was at the facility today. Ortuño, who played with RSL defender Marcelo Silva at Las Palmas, is excited to join the team in training camp and likes what he’s seen so far. Though Ortuño didn’t participate today due his jet lag, he is anxious to join the team. Listen to Ortuño’s media interview here.
Marcelo Silva is excited to get a full season of Major League Soccer under his belt with Real Salt Lake. Silva, who lived in the same building as Ortuño during their time at Las Palmas, played a role in influencing Alfredo to join RSL, telling him the team is “tight-knit” and like a family. The team will remain in Herriman for the remainder of the week before traveling to Tuscon on the 30th. They will be in Tuscon January 31-February 8, facing the LA Galaxy on February 3 and San Jose Earthquakes on February 7 in the 2018 Mobile Mini Sun Cup. Real Salt Lake will return to Utah before heading to Orlando, February 12-23, for their final leg of preseason. While in Orlando, RSL will face Orlando City SC on February 17 and NYCFC on February 22. This will be the first preseason training camp with Real Salt Lake for Adam Henley, Aaron Herrera, Alfredo Ortuno, Jefferson Savarino and the first for RSL under Head Coach Mike Petke.
