Sun Bowl executive director Bernie Olivas joined OC & Swinney and said like Salt Lake, most people think highly of the city only after spending time there.
With a loss to Oregon, Utah’s chances of a Rose or Alamo Bowl appearance vanished. With the Utes’ loss at Colorado, they waved the Holiday Bowl goodbye as well.
Instead of the more flashy destinations for Pac-12 bowls, the Utes are looking at the Foster Farms Bowl (4th choice), Hyundai Sun Bowl (5th choice), or the Las Vegas Bowl (6th choice). Those destinations are, respectively, Santa Clara, CA; El Paso, TX; and, obviously, Las Vegas, NV. The least appealing choice of those cities, most would agree, is in west Texas.
