USMNT Call-Up and MLS Team of the Week Honors for RSL’s Baird and Herrera

It’s been a big week for Baird, 22, and Herrera, 21, of Real Salt Lake.  Corey Baird has been called-up to the U.S. men’s national team for the second time and Aaron Herrera was one of 19 players selected for the MLS Team of the Week.  Baird and Glad were both called to the USMNT January Camp, but it was Baird who made the 23-man roster and started in both wins against Panama and Costa Rica.  Baird notched an assist against Panama, finding Mihailovic for the match-winner.

Baird is off to a good start with RSL in 2019, earning an assist and PK in the first two matches of the season.  The USNMT camp begins on March 17 so Corey will be with RSL for the match against D.C. United this Saturday but will miss LAFC next week.

The U.S. will play Ecuador on Thursday, March 21 at 6 PM and Chile on Tuesday, March 26 at 7 PM.

Aaron Herrera had a big night last Saturday as Real Salt Lake won their 2019 home opener 1-0 against Vancouver.  Herrera has put up solid performances in both of RSL’s matches so far in 2019 and earned Man of the Match on the ESPN700 broadcast.  On Monday Major Leauge Soccer announced the week 2 Team of the Week, and while Aaron didn’t make the  11, he did earn a spot on the bench.

Listen to post-training sound from Corey Baird and Aaron Herrera from earlier this week and don’t miss our broadcast of Real Salt Lake at D.C. United this Saturday, March 16 beginning at 5 PM.
