SALT LAKE CITY — Utah football has added another “blue blood” SEC school to their future non-conference schedule. The Utes will face defending national champion LSU in both 2031 and 2032, Utah Athletics announced in a joint press release with LSU Monday morning.
The two game home-and-home series kicks off in Salt Lake City on September 6, 2031. The Utes will travel to Baton Rouge the following season, on September 11.
“Our aspirations to continue to grow and elevate our football program make opportunities like this especially important,” said Director of Athletics Mark Harlan. “For our student-athletes it is an incredible opportunity to play a high-profile opponent in two fantastic environments. It also is incredibly attractive to our fans to host a team like LSU at Rice-Eccles Stadium and to go on the road to Baton Rouge and cheer on their Utes.”
LSU owns a 2-0 lead over Utah in the all-time series between the schools. Both victories were at Tiger Stadium. LSU beat Utah 35-10 in 1974, and the Tigers won 35-7 in 1976.
The series makes for the fourth power 5 and third SEC matchup scheduled under the direction of third year Athletic Director Mark Harlan. Below, a list of all OOC games currently scheduled for the University of Utah.
