For the first time in 14 years the Utah Basketball program is ranked in the Preseason Associated Press Top 25 Poll. The Poll released on Friday morning has Utah ranked 25th. Utah hasn’t been ranked in the AP Poll since the 2008-09 season. Here’s the complete Preseason Poll.
Utah’s schedule for the 2014-15 season features 5 games against teams ranked in the Preseason AP Poll. #2 Arizona (2 times), #5 Kansas, #11 Wichita State and #16 San Diego State. The most teams in the Top 20 that Utah has played historically in a season is 4. During the 1956-57 and 1970-71 seasons they had a schedule featuring 4 Top 20 teams.
The Utes open up their exhibition season next Thursday night against Pacific College at the Huntsman Center. Tipoff at 8:30 and will be broadcast on ESPN 700.
