The Rice-Eccles Stadium scoreboard and sound system are complete and nearly season-ready for the University of Utah. They are in the testing stages of their construction.
The scoreboard is 89 feet tall and 118 feet wide, standing 50 feet from the south end zone stands to accommodate any further development.
In addition to the new video board, the stadium is equipped with surround-sound style speaker structures, aiming sound toward the center of the stadium instead of sending it across the length of the field. It increases the sound quality for each fan, and will reduce noise outside the stadium and in surrounding neighborhoods.
The speakers stand on 17 individual poles throughout the rim of the stadium in addition to larger sets of speakers on the six main light structures.
