Training Camp Report – 8-12-15

The University of Utah football team held their first session of their first two-a-days this morning at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The defense looked great and the offense didn’t do much in the 20 minutes the media was able to observe at the first practice. The defense had some big hits. The offense did get a touchdown on a goal-line drill on a running play. The offense will hopefully come along. Going up a very solid defense can only help them. The offensive line has a tough task going up against the defensive front of the Utes. Now that the team is in pads there will be a lot more hitting and the intensity will increase. Being a week into camp the team will only get better on both sides of the ball.

University of Utah Defensive Coordinator John Pease said after practice that the defense is always ahead of the offense at this point during fall training camp. The defense will once again be a solid piece to this year’s team. Pease is pleased with the defensive side of the ball and the way they are playing right now as they head into the team’s first scrimmage on Thursday. Coach Pease said that execution is the most important thing that he will be looking for tomorrow during their first scrimmage. Here is Defensive Coordinator John Pease with the media following practice today:
