The Bullpen – October 22, 2014 Edition

The San Francisco Giants took the first game of the World Series on Tuesday night 7-1 as their offense came up big and their pitching held down the Royals.  San Francisco started off the game with a 3-spot in the 1st inning as Hunter Pence capped off the inning with a 2-run homerun.  Pablo Sandoval also drove in 2 runs in the game.  Gregor Blanco, Joe Panik, and Michael Morse also drove in single runs.  Madison Bumgarner was once again brilliant as he goes 7 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits.  On the flip side, James Shields only lasted 3 innings for the Royals giving up 5 runs.

Game 2 will be tonight in Kansas City as the Royals will look to even up the series.  Yordano Ventura gets the start tonight for the Royals while Jake Peavy will be on the mound for the San Francisco Giants.  Wherein game 1 the Giants had the advantage between the 2 starting pitchers, the Royals have the advantage tonight.  This is basically a must-win game for the Royals as games 3, 4, and 5 are all in San Francisco.  The Giants will want to finish the series off at home if they take a commanding 2 games to none series lead tonight.

The game begins at 6:00 PM and can be heard on 106.9 FM.  Pregame coverage will begin at 5:00 PM.
