The Utah Jazz came into the Wednesday night contest with a 5-10 record on the season and losing 4 of their last 5 games as they went on the road for a one game road trip against Northwest Division foe Oklahoma City Thunder coming in with a 3-12 record. Without the services of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, the Jazz had a legitimate shot of winning at a tough place to play. The Jazz didn’t do themselves any favors trailing by 12 points entering the fourth quarter, eventually falling to the Thunder 97-82. The Jazz were led by Gordon Hayward with 24 points on 8 of 15 shooting with 8 rebounds, BUT he did have 8 of the Jazz 19 turnovers. Enes Kanter and Alec Burks added 16 points apiece and Derrick Favors had 11 points. Another Jazz woe was that they only scored 3 bench points to the Thunder’s 44 points. The Thunder were led by Reggie Jackson with 22 points and 8 assists. Jeremy Lamb scored 21 off the bench and Serge Ibaka added 20 points in the win.
The Jazz shot 44% from the field compared to the Thunder’s 48%. The Jazz went 3 of 16 from downtown for 18% and the Thunder shot 12 of 26 for 46%.
The Thunder improve to 4-12 on the season and will take on the Knicks on Friday night. The Jazz fall to 5-11 on the season losing 5 of their last 6 games and will take Thanksgiving off and will be back in action on Saturday as they host the Los Angeles Clippers.
